Nagpur. In the National Lok Adalat held in the District Court, record breaking 11,582 cases have been settled by mutual settlement between both the parties. The settlement amount in the settled cases stood at Rs 41.59 crore. Of the cases that were settled, 8,261 cases remained unclaimed. At the same time, 3,321 such cases were disposed of which were pending.
On behalf of the District Legal Services Authority, Nagpur, the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority heard cases like civil claims, negotiable criminal cases, family suits by the District Court Nagpur and other courts of the district and settled the matters by mutual settlement between the two parties. The functioning of the court was started from 10 am under the guidance of Chief District and Sessions Judge SB Agarwal.
Formation of 57 Panels
57 panels were prepared to hear the cases. Each panel consisted of a judge, lawyer, social worker. SR Padwal, a member of the Motor Accident Claims Authority, got a compensation of Rs 65 lakh to the applicant through the insurance company after compromising in a case. At the same time, the matter of civil claim, land editing case, criminal case, matrimonial suit, accident claim, electricity act was heard and settled.
49,017 cases of the district were placed in Lok Adalat, out of which 16,011 were pending and 33,006 were pre-litigation cases. In the motor accident case, compensation of Rs 7.94 crore was given. The total settlement amount of penalty in cases of land editing, electricity case, money order, pre-suit recovery was Rs 41.60 crore. Under the guidance of Chief District and Sessions Judge SB Agrawal, District Judge-1 MS Azmi, Lok Adalat Committee chief PY Ladekar, other judicial officers, District Legal Services Authority secretary AG Deshmukh, Nagpur District Lawyers Association, legal volunteers and staff worked hard. .
