Mumbai: In Maharashtra, including Mumbai, the campaign to protect teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 has started on Monday. A good number of teenagers clashed at Government and BMC Vaccination Centers. Some teenagers showed a fear of needles, but told them to have complete confidence in the vaccine. According to the information received from the Health Department, about 1 lakh 79 thousand 52 teenagers happily took the vaccine for protection against corona on the first day in the state including Mumbai, in which 5,804 teenagers have been vaccinated in Mumbai.
In Mumbai, the Municipal Corporation made arrangements for the vaccination of adolescents in a total of 9 centres. Vaccination was started from BKC Jumbo Covid Vaccination Centre. The campaign was launched at the hands of Aditya Thackeray, the environment minister of the state and parent of Mumbai suburb. Mayor Kishori Pednekar and other local leaders were present on the occasion.

With this launch Tanuja Makarwala and Rajan Hemant Bari, 10th class students of Kalina Shastri Nagar Public School were first vaccinated. Both the students said that they did not face any problem in getting the vaccine. He said that he would conduct public awareness for vaccination in his neighbourhood. Dr. Deepa Shriyan, in-charge of Dahisar Jumbo COVID Vaccination Center said that vaccination started well, a total of 519 adolescents were vaccinated. No major side effects were observed in any of the children. 2 children had fainted due to panic, but after some time they were cured. Children were also guided about what to do after receiving the vaccine. Most of the children were registered on the spot. The covin portal was also working well. Minister Aaditya Thackeray has appealed to the parents to get their children both the doses of the vaccine on time.
Parents encouraged
Along with the teenagers, their parents were also seen at other vaccination centers including BKC. Parents were seen encouraging the children and allaying their fears. Mahadevan Kannan, studying in Special School, also reached BKC with his father to get the vaccine. His father told that he had come with his son to encourage him.
Adolescents are afraid of needles, we understand them then vaccinate them. They do not even know that they have been vaccinated after getting the needle. There was enthusiasm among children regarding vaccination.

Runa Yadav (15), a student of Municipal School located in Dahisar, said that I am afraid of injections, but if I want to avoid COVID, then I will have to take the vaccine. I have full faith in the vaccine. My parents told me to get the vaccine.
There are 9 lakh adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years in Mumbai. We have set a target of giving everyone the first dose in a month. Now for this we need the support of parents. They feel free to send the children for vaccination.
