On the trading day of July 20, the Sensex had reached 52465.03 point above 52400 but after that it declined and it had slipped 451.52 points from this high to a low of 52013.51. However, once again it recovered and it closed above 52100 with some recovery from the day’s low. At the close of trading on July 20, the Sensex was down by 354.89 points at 52,198.51 and the Nifty was down 120.30 points at 15,632.10. Only 9 stocks on Sensex and 10 stocks on Nifty50 closed with gains. Talking about the sectoral indices of Nifty, except Nifty FMCG, all other sector indices closed with a fall. All banking stocks, including Reliance and Tata Steel, were sold on the Sensex and Asian Paint shares gained 6 per cent.
