Pimpri: Under the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana of the Central Government, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been given housing projects in Charholi, Ravet, Borhadewadi, Akurdi and Pimpri-Waghere. Not a single penny has been received in the current financial year. In the absence of this amount, the bills of contractors worth Rs 76 crore are stuck. As a result, the ruling BJP has allocated Rs 76 crore from the budget for other development works. The sub-direction was secretly approved in the recent General Assembly.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is being implemented under the ‘Housing for All-2022’ scheme on reserved land at various places through Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. 7233 houses are planned to be built in 2017-18, 14 thousand 465 in 2018-19, 14 thousand 465 in 2019-20, 14 thousand 465 in 2020-21 and 21 thousand 698 in 2021-22. The Municipal Corporation has adopted the policy of building affordable houses through partnership.
Work underway on five housing projects
At present houses up to 30 sq m (323 sq ft) area are being constructed in Charholi (1442), Ravet (934), Borhadewadi (1288), Akurdi (568) and Pimpri-Waghere (370). Under this, a grant of 1.5 lakh per family will be given from the central government and one lakh rupees from the state government. Work on all the five housing projects is currently in full swing.

49 crore provision in the original budget
The revised budget for the year 2020-21 and the original budget for 2021-22 has been approved for this project in the general meeting of the NMC on 31 March 2021. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a provision of Rs 49 crore has been made in the basic budget for the year 2021-22. According to the revised budget of the year 2020-21 and the original budget of 2021-22, a grant of Rs 14 crore 46 lakh from the central government, this amount was expected to be received in this financial year. However, till now only Rs 57 crore 4 lakh has been deposited in the account of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This amount is exhausted after the contractor has paid the bills.
Original budget approved

Bills not paid
For this project, Rs 14 crore 46 lakh has not been received from the central government, Rs 7 crore 37 lakh from the state government and Rs 120 crore 68 lakh from the beneficiary share. No provision has been made on account of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to meet the further bills on this project cost. The bills of Rs 76 crore proposed by the Accounts Department have not been paid yet. Presently work is in progress on all the five projects of Charholi, Ravet, Borhadewadi, Akurdi and Pimpri-Waghere. The ruling BJP has said that the bills of contractors need to be met for timely completion of these projects. Since the bill requires Rs 76 crore by March 2022. For this, the BJP has approved a budget of Rs 60 crore from the fire department and Rs 16 crore from the architectural project department. A sub-direction of this was approved in the recently held meeting.
