RODTEP Scheme: Commerce Secretary Anoop Wadhawan said that the issues related to the tax refund scheme RoDTEP (exemption in duties and taxes on export products) will be resolved soon and it will be available to exporters from 1 January 2021 this year. The government had announced last year that it would extend the benefit of duty and tax exemption scheme on export products to all goods from 1 January 2021. In response to a question related to the delay in the implementation of RoDTEP, Wadhavan said that this is a new scheme and whenever there is a new initiative, it has some problems and hiccups.
He said, the entire outline is clear and the benefit of the scheme will be available from January 1, 2021. It is only a matter of a few weeks. The secretary said that electronically functioning is a priority for the government and steps are being taken to make all the clearances online, paperless and digital and to reduce face-to-face between the government and the concerned parties.
He further said that the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is working in this direction and almost all the schemes have been digitized and the approval process has been paperless.
Regarding the government’s plan to make every district an export center, Wadhawan said that with the awareness of this, the concerned parties are being linked to it. So that every district recognizes its potential and potential as an export center and makes it a reality.
