World Heart Day 2021: Nowadays heart diseases have become common in people of almost every age. The cost of heart diseases is very high. Lakhs of rupees are also spent on common diseases related to this, which is a big deal even for middle class people. People are now planning in advance to deal with such big expenses. If you have a right cardiac plan to deal with such ailments, then in times of such crisis, you will not have any problem in the least amount of money. Many health insurance companies are offering special cardiac plans these days. The cost of a cardiac plan depends on the type of health insurance or critical illness coverage and the features you wish to buy.
Mayank Kale, Co-Founder and CEO, Loop Health, told FE Online, “Acute heart disorders such as refractory heart failure are covered under cardiac health insurance coverage. Other diseases included in such plans include Myocardial Infarction, Heart Attack, Cardiomyopathy etc. Heart patients must buy a health insurance plan to deal with the huge expenses incurred in the treatment of these diseases.
However, you should also exercise some caution while buying a health insurance plan for heart diseases. Make sure you check whether the following coverages are included in the plan you are going to buy:
- In-hospital coverage – pre and post hospitalization charges
- Coverage for First Heart Attack – Coverage for Refractory Heart Failure
- Cardiac health checkup/wellness program on annual basis
- alternative therapy
Kale said that you can also buy a cardiac health insurance plan or a critical illness plan along with heart insurance cover. While doing this, you should check whether the following coverages are included in your health insurance plan:
- Hospitalization Expenses – This includes the cost of cardiac treatment and other expenses – including hospitalization expenses.
- Financial cover in case of heart attack
- lump sum payment of sum assured
- loss of income cover
- foreign treatment
- tax benefit on premium
Cardiac plans do not cover only heart-related ailments, but they also cover hospitalization related expenses for all the diseases covered in the mediclaim policy.
