At the same time, the insurers got only a few rupees in their hands. In the last 6 years, ST Mahamandal has earned crores of rupees in the name of insurance. At the same time, only thousands of rupees had to be distributed to the injured and the deceased and their families in the accident. Travelers have always reposed faith in the Mahamandal for safe travel, people from rural to urban departments are still largely dependent on ST Mahamandal.
Reduction in bus accidents in the last 6 years
ST Mahamandal, continuously improving its service, started a security insurance scheme in the interest of passengers, through this scheme, a nominal fee of Re 1 was charged from the passengers. The evidence was fortunately less, some accidents happened in which ST Mahamandal has been in profit by giving lakhs of rupees to the kin of the dead and the injured.
61 lakh income in last 10 months
In the last 10 months, the operation of ST buses has been badly affected due to Corona and employees’ strike. 61 lakh 45 thousand 885 rupees have been earned through this medium, ST earned 2 crore 21 lakh rupees in the year 2019-20.
It is noteworthy that this year due to Corona, the operation of ST was completely stalled for about 15 days. Before Corona, the income of 2 to 2.5 crores per annum through insurance cover was constant since 2016, whereas after Corona the year due to decrease in the number of passengers. Income decreased to Rs 70 lakh 86 thousand in 2020-21.
5 dead and 24 injured got benefit
Since the year 2016, assistance of Rs 10 lakh has been provided to the families of 5 people who died in the bus accident, in which 2 victims of Deoli and Arvi, Dhadi, Talegaon were included in the district, while 24 injured were provided assistance up to Rs 1 lakh. Out of these, 1 person was sent to Mumbai Head Office after spending up to Rs 5 lakh for treatment, in which Rs 5 lakh has been provided to the said injured.
2 cases are still pending
In case of death in a bus accident, the help of Rs 10 lakh is given by the ST Mahamandal to his family members, while there is a provision of up to Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of the injured. But, the Mahamandal refused to give it, due to which the matter is still pending in the court.
