Mumbai: Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had to face the sloganeering art of the leaders of the MVA government ahead of the budget session that began in Maharashtra on Thursday. It is being told that on Thursday, without completing his address in the joint session of the state legislature, he went out of the Vidhan Bhavan. There is a protest in Maharashtra over some alleged remarks made recently on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
According to reports, Koshyari during an event in Aurangabad on Sunday had reportedly outlined the role of Guru by citing the example of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chandragupta Maurya. He had said, “Many Chakravartis (Emperors), Maharajas were born on this land, but if Chanakya was not there, who would have asked about Chandragupta? Had Samarth (Ramdas) not been there, who would have asked about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj? Koshyari had said, “I am not questioning the qualifications of Chandragupta and Shivaji Maharaj. Just like a mother plays an important role in shaping the future of the child, in the same way a guru has a big place in our society.

On Thursday, MLAs of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) raised slogans and protested against Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari over his alleged controversial remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state unit president and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil claimed that the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) also held a ‘Shirshasan’ in protest against this. ) MLAs shouted slogans in praise of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators raised “low class” slogans, which the governor could not tolerate.
“It is unfortunate that he left without waiting for the national anthem,” Patil said. BJP chief whip Ashish Shelar, on the other hand, blamed the MVA for not completing the Governor’s address. “Our only demand, both inside and outside the legislature, is that minister Nawab Malik, accused of having links with associates of (fugitive gangster) Dawood Ibrahim, be asked to resign from the ministry. We will not go back on our demand. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure smooth conduct of the proceedings.”

Meanwhile, state Congress president Nana Patole criticized the governor for some of his recent remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and said he should apologise.

Meanwhile, ahead of the budget session, BJP MLAs demonstrated on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan here against the state government’s decision not to remove Malik from the post. BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Pravin Darekar and BJP state unit president Chandrakant Patil raised slogans against the MVA government of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress.
