Thane: This year’s budget of Thane Municipal Corporation, which has been facing financial crisis for the last two years due to Corona crisis, will be presented on February 10. The budget is seen as politically significant in the backdrop of the upcoming municipal elections, in which new projects will be announced or the emphasis will be on completing old projects, which are now gaining attention.
Thane Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Sharma presented a budget of Rs 2,755.32 crore last year. The announcement of major projects was postponed due to the huge reduction in revenue due to the Corona crisis. He insisted on completing the ongoing projects in the city. In this budget, the Standing Committee approved an increase of Rs 491 crore and a budget of Rs 3,246 crore. The General Assembly later approved the budget. However, the approval was not received on time as the administration had started implementing the administrative budget of Rs 2,755.32 crore. The budget was to be rescheduled after six months to review revenue and expenditure. But, the budget was not rescheduled due to the Corona crisis, due to which there was a huge drop in the revenue collection of various departments.
