- 29 crore for the shopkeepers of the railway station flyover
Nagpur. In view of the election year of the Municipal Corporation and the general elections in the near future, in the name of development works, some time back there was a re-appropriation in the budget of the Standing Committee. This is the first time in the history of the Municipal Corporation that the budget has to be re-appropriated for the second time.
It is noteworthy that about 4 years ago it was decided to demolish the plyover in front of the railway station. For which instructions were also given to the Municipal Corporation. An agreement was also reached with the owners of the shops located under the flyover. After which the decision to compensate them was decided to break the bridge. But till now neither the shopkeepers could get compensation nor the process of breaking the bridge could be started. However, in the recent meeting taken by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, it was decided to re-appropriate in the municipal budget as soon as the officials and officials were reprimanded. Soon a proposal in this regard will be brought before the meeting of the Municipal Corporation.
Delay in commissioner’s budget
According to sources, even after the decision to break the bridge and compensation to the shopkeepers under the bridge was taken long ago, provision was not made in the budget for the necessary funds. This is the reason why now it is time to re-appropriate. It is said that according to the assessment made by the City Survey Department of the state government, these shopkeepers will have to pay a total of 29 crores. Apart from the said fund, honorarium is to be given to the doctors appointed to deal with the corona epidemic.
Due to the arrival of the third wave, the services of temporarily appointed doctors were increased. Due to which they have to re-appropriate the budget for payment also. According to experts, instead of re-appropriating in the budget of the Standing Committee, it could also have been provisioned in the reformed and proposed budget to be given by the commissioner every year. According to the rules, the commissioner has to give the budget by February 20, but due to the delay, re-appropriation is being done.
The problem of not having a permanent finance officer
It is said that on December 31, the services of the Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO) of the Municipal Corporation ended. Cafes are appointed by the state government. Even after a lapse of more than a month, the appointment of Cafo could not be done. Due to which there were problems in the financial matters of the Municipality. Now Khadse, the Finance Officer of Pranyas, has been appointed as the Finance Officer in the Municipal Corporation. After getting the permanent finance officer, now it is expected that the train of the Municipal Corporation will come back on track.
