New Delhi/Mumbai. After all, after two years of Corona crisis, now preparations have started to bring Maharashtra’s economy back on track. In the same sequence, today i.e. on Friday, March 11, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar is going to present the budget for 2022-23 of Maharashtra in the Legislative Assembly.
This time all eyes are on what new announcements he will make in this budget. Let us inform that in Mahavikas Aghadi, about 24 Shiv Sena MLAs had complained to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that Ajit Pawar puts a lot of obstacles in giving them funds. It is also to be seen whether Ajit Pawar can satisfy those Shiv Sena MLAs in this budget or not.
In this sequence, today at 2 pm, Ajit Pawar will present the budget in the Assembly and Minister of State for Finance Shambhuraj Desai in the Legislative Council. Before presenting the budget, the report of an economic survey of Maharashtra was also presented. This report has also revealed the fact that Maharashtra’s economy is growing at a rate of 12.18% after the Corona period.
Accordingly, the growth of 4.4 per cent in agriculture and allied work sector, 11.9 per cent in industry and 13.5 per cent in services sector has been projected. An increase of 6.9 per cent in animal culture, 7.2 per cent in afforestation and 1.6 per cent in fisheries has been projected. The Economic Survey report states that Maharashtra’s contribution to the country’s GDP will be around 14.2 percent.
However, in terms of per capita income too, Maharashtra ranks fifth after Haryana, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. At the same time, during the year 2020-21, the per capita income in Maharashtra is estimated to be Rs 1.93 lakh. Whereas for 2019-20 it was Rs 1,96,100. Significantly, in the last two years, due to the corona epidemic, the economic activities of the state have been affected a lot. It has also affected per capita income.
On the other hand, according to the budget estimate for the year 2021-22, this year the revenue was estimated to be Rs 3,68,987 crore, which is now estimated to get Rs 79,489 crore less i.e. Rs 2,89,498 crore according to the new revised estimate. Along with this, according to the Economic Survey, the manufacturing sector will grow at the rate of 9.5% (as against minus 11.8%) and the construction sector at the rate of 17.4% (minus 14.6%).
It is to be known that this budget of Maharashtra is coming soon after the elections of five states in the country are over. With this, the municipal elections have been pushed forward for the time being. But now within the coming six months of the presentation of this budget, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government will have to face elections again. In such a situation, today all eyes will be on the Uddhav government.
