Wash: The budget of the Zilla Parishad for the financial year 2022-23 was presented on Friday. This is the remaining budget for the second consecutive year of the BJP’s tenure. This year, instead of education, most of the funds have been allocated for public health and water supply and sanitation, agriculture programmes. The budget of Rs 14 crore, 20 lakh 5 thousand has been appreciated by both the ruling party and the opposition.
The special general meeting of the Zilla Parishad budget was held on Friday at Yashwantrao Chavan Hall under the chairmanship of President Tushar Randhe. On this occasion Vice President Kusumtai Nikam, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry President Sangram Patil, Education President Mangala Patil, Social Welfare President Mogra Padvi, Chief Executive Officer Vanmati C, Additional Chief Executive Officer Sandeep Malode etc. were present.

Water supply and maintenance in budget
Various provisions in the budget- Rs 1 crore 20 lakh for social welfare department, Rs 90 lakh for backward class welfare and Rs 20 lakh for disability welfare has been provided in the budget of Zilla Parishad, Rs 58 lakh 51 thousand for women and child welfare Provision has been made for water supply and maintenance. A provision of Rs.1 crore 5 lakh 50 thousand has been made in this budget. Keeping in mind the importance of health due to corona, a provision of Rs. 1 crore 20 lakh has been made for the purchase of medicines and equipment.
Last year, a provision of Rs 1 crore 43 lakh was made for the protection of public property. There was a provision of Rs 1 crore 21 lakh 15 thousand for the education department, whereas a provision of Rs 59 lakh 80 thousand has been made in this budget. 85 lakh has been deducted from the education department for maintenance and repair of schools. Instead of Rs 78 lakh last year, Rs 85 lakh has been allocated for public health, Rs 75 lakh for water supply and sanitation. 1 crore 20 lakhs, the amount for social security and welfare will remain the same.

Leader of the Opposition Poptrao Sonawane, reacting soon after presenting the budget, said that there is less funding for agriculture in the budget. He expressed displeasure over this, however, he commended the Speaker for including all other issues in the budget. On this occasion, senior member Dnyaneshwar Bhamre said that less funds have been allocated for the reception of teachers in the education committee. In the first meeting, he asked what happened to the demand for the construction of a memorial to Shivaji Maharaj.
No-confidence motion against CEO!
In the general meeting of the Zilla Parishad, members of the ruling and opposition parties expressed strong displeasure over the Chief Executive Officer Vanmati C.’s style of functioning. A motion of no confidence was also moved. However, the no-confidence motion was rejected, with half the members expressing support and the other members saying they should be given a chance. On this occasion, senior member Dnyaneshwar Bhamre reminded the working style of the then Chief Executive Officer Manukumar Srivastava, who exposed the Bhaskar Wagh embezzlement scandal and accused the present Chief Executive Officer of ruining the district in three years.
