In the budget 2020, a lot of attention was also given to the field of education. In the budget, Rs 99,300 crore was allocated for the education sector. With this, a big announcement was made about the new education policy in the budget 2020. In the Budget 2020, it was announced that the Central Government will soon come up with a new education policy and the government has received more than two lakh suggestions in this regard.
Many reforms under the new education policy
In fulfillment of this announcement, on 30 July, the Union Cabinet approved the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the country. In the new education policy, the format of 10 + 2 has been completely abolished. Till now the school curriculum in our country runs according to 10 + 2 but now it will be according to 5+ 3+ 3+ 4. This means that one part from the primary to the second class, then the second part from the third to the fifth, the third part from the sixth to the eighth and the last part from the ninth to the 12th.
Under the National Education Policy 2020, major reforms have been introduced for higher education, including 50% gross enrollment ratio and multiple entry / exit by 2035. Under the National Education Policy, e-courses will be developed in regional languages, virtual labs will be developed and the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) will be formed.
National recruitment agency will be formed
In the Budget 2020, Finance Minister Sitharaman announced that a National Recruitment Agency will be created to recruit non-gazetted, public sector banks. According to this announcement, on 19 August, the Modi Cabinet approved the establishment of the National Recruitment Agency. This agency will conduct the Common Eligibility Test.
According to the government, this decision will help millions of youth looking for jobs in the country. The National Recruitment Agency will work as a nodal agency for the appointment of all government jobs at the central level. Currently many agencies are involved for recruitment in government jobs. There are constitutional bodies from the Union Public Service Commission to the Staff Selection Commission. The Common Eligibility Test of NRA will take the candidates for Group-C and Group-B posts.
In the budget, the government announced that FDI and ECB will be approved for the education sector. Under the new education policy, Indian higher education will be opened for foreign universities.
