According to the information, while checking their checked-in baggage in the X-ray machine, deep images of certain items were observed inside the shaver-cum-trimmer. The officials suspected that some heavy precious metal was hidden in it, which could be gold. However, on questioning the passenger, he denied carrying any such baggage. But he could not give any satisfactory explanation, after which his belongings were searched.

The custom officer said that after this the gold biscuits have been confiscated. The smuggled gold was of about 491.0 grams, which is worth Rs 25 lakh. “We seized the gold under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and informed the police about it,” he said. Further investigation is on.
