The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) introduced it had awarded $3.78
million in funding to assist 76 group tasks, festivals, and occasions
all through the state as a part of its Signature Events and Community Enrichment
packages in 2023.
As a part of the state’s Strategic Plan and Destination
Management Action Plans, the HTA partnered with the Hawaii Visitors and
Convention Bureau (HVCB) and Island Chapters to manage its 2023 Signature
Events and Community Enrichment Programs.
Funded by the HTA, 5 program undertaking managers have been
appointed to manage the awardee contracts in every county, together with Christy
Calabrese, Michelle Pope, Sumithra Balraj, Taryn Pascua and Lani Kaui.
“The festivals and occasions being supported by our Signature
Events and Community Enrichment packages are integral to Hawaii’s
multi-cultural group and contribute to a stronger, diversified financial system,” HTA
president John De Fries stated.
“By offering funding help to those packages on every
island, we’re vigorously supporting our kama‘aina – cultural practitioners,
musicians, artists, athletes, manufacturing employees, nonprofit teams, and
volunteers – who’re sharing significant experiences with residents and guests
alike,” De Fries continued.
The HTA has invested greater than $11 million in over 411
group tasks and occasions since 2017, with the Signature Events program
supporting important festivals and occasions that present a singular and enriching
expertise and protect Hawaii’s pure sources and tradition.
HTA’s Community Enrichment program helps community-based
tasks and experiences that encourage tourism diversification in agriculture,
tradition, culinary, schooling, well being and wellness, nature, sports activities and voluntourism.
