Users were asked to download an app from the fake domain of Trezor. The firm suspects that fraud has been attempted against users who opted to receive the newsletter. American email marketing firm Mailchimp is responsible for sending the newsletter. Trezor has started an investigation to find out the reason. Users have been advised not to click on links coming from suspicious places. “Mailchimp has confirmed a breach in its service. We have taken the phishing domain offline. We are trying to determine the number of email addresses affected,” Trezor said in a post.
Trezor said the newsletter would not be sent until this situation was resolved. Additionally, users have been advised to use anonymous email addresses for bitcoin-related activities. Users of the firm started reporting the phishing attack late last week. Users had told that by giving false information that the firm’s data was hacked, they were asked to download a fake code under the guise of an app related to Trezor.
