The news agency Reuters shared information, citing reports from Elliptic, that Ukraine has so far earned $8 million in cryptocurrencies. Ukraine’s official Twitter account appealed for cryptocurrency donations on Saturday, and shared digital wallet addresses of some other altcoins, including Bitcoin and Ether, in a tweet.
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted the wallet address and wrote “Stand with the people of Ukraine. Now accepting cryptocurrency donations.”
Russian military vehicles broke into Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv on Sunday as explosions wrecked oil and gas reserves on a fourth day of fighting in the biggest attack on a European state since World War II.
London-based Elliptic said that as of 10:30 GMT (4:00pm IST) on Sunday, the wallet address had received around $7.9 million (about Rs 60 crore) worth of cryptocurrency in around 11,500 donations. Let us tell you, this company tracks the movement of digital coins on the blockchain.
It is not clear what Kyiv will use the donation for.<!–
