Ankita Agarwal, who secured the second place within the civil companies examination 2021, on Monday stated she want to work for ladies empowerment and first healthcare after becoming a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
A 2020 batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer, Agarwal is at the moment below probation on the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) in Haryana’s Faridabad.
“I am very happy to have got the second rank. I have opted for the IAS and would like to work for women empowerment, primary healthcare and school education sectors after joining the service,” she informed PTI over cellphone from the academy.
Agarwal, a local of Kolkata, stated she cleared the examination in her third try. She was chosen within the IRS in her first try.
On ladies securing the highest three ranks within the civil companies examination 2021, outcomes of which had been introduced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) earlier within the day, Agarwal stated, “It is a matter of great pride for me and for the entire country that women have got the top three positions in the examination.” Shruti Sharma topped the examination and Gamini Singla secured the second rank.
Asked about her preparation and success mantra, Agarwal stated, “I used to give as many hours as possible for the exam preparation. Instead of putting in a definite number of hours, I tried to maintain a sustainable study schedule.” Agarwal, a graduate in Economics (Hons.) from Delhi University’s St. Stephen’s College, had chosen political science and worldwide relations as her elective topic.
A complete of 685 candidates — 508 males and 177 ladies — certified the examination and so they have been really useful by the Commission for appointment to numerous central companies, the UPSC stated.
The prime 25 candidates comprise 15 males and 10 ladies.
The civil companies examination is carried out yearly by the UPSC in three levels – preliminary, predominant and interview — to pick officers of the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service and the Indian Police Service, amongst others.
