The University Grants Commission (UGC) sought a report from the Sharda University on Monday about an “objectionable” query requested by it in an examination on similarities between Hindutva and fascism. The Political Science (Honours) query within the BA first-year paper requested the scholars about “Hindutva-Fascism”.
The query carrying seven marks learn, “Do you find any similarities between Fascism/Nazism and Hindu right-wing (Hindutva)? Elaborate with arguments.” After the query paper went viral on social media platforms, the college shaped a three-member committee to “look into the possibility of bias in the questions”.
The larger training regulator has requested the Greater Noida-based personal college to clarify within the detailed action-taken report the steps taken by it to make sure that such incidents don’t happen sooner or later.
“It has been noticed that the students objected to the question and filed a complaint with the university. Needless to say that asking students such a question is against the spirit and ethos of our country, which is known for inclusivity and homogeneity and such questions have not been asked,” the UGC mentioned in a communication to the Sharda University.
In an announcement issued on Saturday, it mentioned the committee has discovered the query objectionable and for the aim of analysis, it could be ignored by the evaluators. The college has additionally issued a show-cause discover to the college member who had set the query paper.
