According to officers, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has banned three books for mentioning distorting information associated to Sikh historical past. “Action will be taken against writers and publishers for allegedly distorting facts related to Sikh history in the books,” Punjab Education Minister, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer stated.

“Sikh history is invaluable to all of us and future generations. Wrong facts related to Sikh history were presented in the ‘History of Punjab’ book of class 12. The resolution to ban these books was taken following a report by an inquiry committee.
The committee was shaped following a grievance by farmer chief Baldev Singh Sirsa, who had stated that these books contained some remarks which weren’t in accordance with Sikh historical past.
PSEB chairman Yograj Singh confirmed that the three books have been banned for distortion of information. The order of the state authorities has been conveyed to the director, SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training), and all district training officers for its compliance with instant impact, the official stated.
The college training division principally accepted the contents of the inquiry report with the instructions that these books be banned on the market and never be taught in faculties within the state of Punjab, he stated.
