Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has deplored the joint advisory by the United Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) asking Indian college students to not enroll in any academic establishments in Pakistan and sought a clarification from India on the matter.
UGC and AICTE on Friday had issued a joint advisory urging Indian college students to not enroll in any school or academic establishment in Pakistan. The advisory acknowledged that any Indian nationwide or abroad citizen of India who intends to take admission to any diploma school or academic establishment of Pakistan shall not be eligible for looking for employment or greater research in India on the premise of such academic {qualifications} (in any topic) acquired in Pakistan.
“Pakistan strongly deplores the so-called ‘Public Notice’ issued by the University Grants Commission of India and the All India Council for Technical Education, advising students not to seek higher education in Pakistan and warning them of being denied employment in case they choose to do so,” the Foreign Office mentioned in a press release on Monday.
“It is regrettable that driven by its incurable obsession with Pakistan, the Government of India is unabashedly coercing the students in order to deter them from pursuing quality education of their choice,” the FO mentioned.
“We have sought clarification from the Indian government with reference to the said Public Notice,” it mentioned.
Pakistan reserves the correct to take acceptable measures in response to this “openly discriminatory and inexplicable action by India,” it added.
Meanwhile, it was unclear what number of Indian college students, particularly from Kashmir, could be affected by the general public discover.
An official of the Punjab University in Lahore mentioned they have been nonetheless wanting if there was any pupil from India enrolled within the college.
The joint advisory by the UGC and AICTE comes inside a month of the upper training regulator warning Indian college students planning to pursue greater research in China, saying it doesn’t recognise “degree courses done only in online mode without prior approval”.
The UGC had issued an advisory in 2019 in opposition to learning in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir institutes.
