The Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed all colleges throughout the nationwide capital to plant at the least 1.5 lakh saplings by way of their Eco-Club members throughout the 2022-23 educational session, officers stated.
It has additionally instructed all faculty principals and workers members to participate within the drive, and frequently monitor and preserve the crops with the assistance of scholars. “A target of 1.50 lakh saplings, including 40,000 trees and 1.1 lakh shrubs, to be planted in all schools of Delhi through Eco-Club members has been fixed for the academic year 2022-23,” the DoE letter to varsities learn.
“Fifty per cent target will be achieved by August 15 by all schools for plantation in all the open areas and available space. Saplings can be obtained free of cost by each head of schools for the plantation from any of the identified nurseries being run by the forest department,” it added.
The DoE has a set a goal to each faculty to plant at the least 100 saplings — 30 crops and 70 shrubs — within the present session. The faculty heads are required to ship updates, together with images of the saplings, to the respective science centres by way of the zonal convener by the fifth of each month.
Further, the in-charge of the respective science centre is required to ship a compiled report of the districts underneath it to the science department by the tenth of each month, it stated.
