Riders on an Amtrak practice that runs from Maine to Boston will quickly have to carry off on shopping for alcoholic drinks in the course of the 35-mile stretch of the journey that goes by way of New Hampshire.
The Amtrak Downeaster takes passengers 145 miles from Brunswick, Maine, to Boston. The practice features a cafe automobile that serves alcohol.
However, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission has informed the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority that the practice can’t serve alcohol in the course of the New Hampshire portion of the journey.
The change is ready to go on the books on March 20, the Portland Press Herald reported. It stems from a New Hampshire regulation that forbids the serving of alcohol that hasn’t been bought within the state.
The firm that gives the practice’s meals and beverage service, Mansfield, Massachusetts-based NexDine Hospitality, buys its alcoholic drinks in Maine for the 145-mile route, the newspaper reported.
