State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a notice to its customers. The bank has informed the account holders to link their PAN-Aadhaar card (PAN-Aadhaar) by 30 September. The bank has further stated that if they fail to do so, they will face difficulty in enjoying uninterrupted banking service.
SBI on its official website said, We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue to enjoy a seamless banking service.
Opportunity to add by 30th September
The notice further states that it is mandatory to link PAN with Aadhaar. If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, PAN will become inactive and PAN cannot be used for carrying out specified transactions. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is September 30, 2021.
Let us inform that last month, the Central Government had extended the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar till September 30 in view of the corona virus epidemic. Earlier this deadline was set as March 31, but later it was revised to June 30.

How to link PAN-Aadhaar card?
Both the documents can be linked through SMS or on the Income Tax Department website. To link via SMS, type UIDPAN
To link through the website, go to the Income Tax website and click on Link Aadhaar under our services tab. After this, enter the details like PAN, Aadhar Number, Name as per Aadhar and Mobile Number and click on link Aadhaar after which both the documents will be linked.
PAN is mandatory for many financial transactions including opening bank accounts, depositing cash in bank accounts, opening demat accounts, transactions in immovable properties and transactions in securities. Aadhaar is biometric based and cannot be obtained on the basis of any other identity document, linking the two is considered important for the tax administration.
