Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has passed away. He has also been the chairman of the Airport Authority. Many eminent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed grief over his death, as well as paid tribute to him.
PM Modi tweeted about this and wrote, “Guruprasad Mohapatra’s demise is deeply saddened, I worked with him extensively in Gujarat and at the Centre. He had a very good understanding of administrative issues and was known for his innovative enthusiasm. Condolences to his family and friends.”

Union Minister Piyush Goyal made the first tweet regarding the death of Guruprasad Mohapatra. He wrote, ‘I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Guruprasad Mohapatra’s death. The service and dedication given by him to the government for a long time has left a lasting impact.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took to Twitter to condol Mohapatra’s demise and wrote that the country has lost an able administrator. He made unparalleled contributions in improving the urban development scenario in Gujarat, headed several public enterprises and commerce And also took the aviation sector forward.
Let us tell you that Guruprasad Mohapatra was a 1986 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. He had also worked as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce. He did a lot of work for the promotion of the Special Economic Zone. He gave a new direction to the airport authority to move forward. On 1 August 2019, he became the secretary of the Department of Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade.
