Nasscom, the apex body of IT companies, said that the information technology sector continues to be the largest recruiter of skilled talent. The top five companies in the IT sector plan to employ more than 96 thousand employees in the current financial year. This statement from Nasscom comes at a time when Bank of America in a report has projected software companies to lay off 3 million employees by 2022 due to increased automation. Especially in the field of technology.
Nasscom said in a statement, “With the development of technology and increase in automation, the nature of traditional IT jobs and roles will evolve holistically thereby creating new jobs.” The IT sector has created the maximum number of hiring in the skilled talent sector and has given jobs to 1,38,000 people in FY21. He stressed that in the financial year 2021-22 for IT companies, a strong plan has been prepared to recruit more than 96 thousand.
retrenchment of 30 lakh employees by 2022
Domestic software companies employing 16 million people will lay off 30 lakh employees by 2022. This will save these companies a huge $100 billion, most of which they spend on annual salaries. This information has been given in a report. The IT sector employs about 16 million people, of which 90 lakh people are employed in low-skill services and BPO services.
Of these 9 million people, 30 percent or about three million people will lose their jobs, mainly because of Robotic Process Automation or RPA. RPA alone will replace around 7 lakh employees and the rest will be due to other technological up-gradation and skill enhancement of domestic IT companies. It also said that RPA will have a bad effect in America and there will be about one million jobs.
What is RPA?
RPA is not a robot but an application of software that does regular and hard work. This helps the employees to focus on more different tasks. It is not like a simple software application as it mimics the way employees work. It saves time, reduces cost.
