Members of ASLEF have voted overwhelmingly to proceed strike motion for the subsequent six months of their ongoing dispute over pay, the prepare drivers’ union has introduced.
General secretary Mick Whelan mentioned: “We are on this for the lengthy haul. Our members who haven’t had a pay rise for almost 5 years now are decided that the prepare corporations and the Tory authorities that stands behind them do the proper factor.
“The cost of living has soared since the spring and summer of 2019, when these pay deals ran out.
“The bosses on the prepare corporations – in addition to Tory MPs and authorities ministers – have had will increase in pay. It’s unrealistic and unfair to anticipate our members to work simply as arduous for what, in actual phrases, is significantly much less.”
It comes after members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union yesterday agreed to a proposal from prepare corporations for a backdated pay rise of 5% for 2022-2023 and job safety ensures.
The announcement from ASLEF was made as prepare drivers begin a week-long extra time ban which is anticipated to trigger disruption to companies throughout England.
