Amazon-Future Deal: Both the parties – Amazon and Future Group have agreed to settle this dispute through negotiations.
Amazon-Future Deal: The long-running dispute between e-commerce giant Amazon and Future Group may now be resolved. In fact, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana has given Amazon and Future Group 12 days to settle the matter by mutual consent. The Chief Justice said, “We are adjourning the matter for 10 days. It would be better if it is resolved by mutual consent. If no solution can be found regarding this, then we will take action.” Both the parties – Amazon and Future Group have agreed to settle the dispute through negotiations.
Suggesting an out-of-court dialogue, Amazon’s lawyer Gopal Subramaniam said, “We need to have a conversation on this. Let’s come face to face and discuss to resolve this matter.” The Supreme Court has said that the matter will be heard again on March 15.

Harish Salve, lawyer for Future Group, agreed to the talks, saying, “No one is winning this battle.” The judges said that it may take 10 days for both the sides to settle the matter. Harish Salve said, “There are three big companies involved in this and they do not need any intermediary.” He further said that as long as the talks are on, the HC/NCLAT hearing should continue.

Meanwhile, Amazon has denied a Reuters report that said Amazon plans to launch criminal court proceedings against Future. Reuters had said that Amazon would file a criminal case for allowing the transfer of assets to a major competitor despite the legal stay.
