Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees and pensioners here has been increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. Recently, this step has been taken for the employees of Jammu and Kashmir after the Central Government increased the dearness allowance of its employees. After Jharkhand, Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan, the employees and pensioners of Jammu and Kashmir have got the gift of increase in DA.
This will come into effect from July 1, 2021. Let us inform that on July 14, the Center had announced to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central employees from 17 per cent to 28 per cent after a gap of one and a half years.
What happens DA?
Dearness allowance was introduced during the Second World War. At that time, this money was given to the soldiers apart from the salary for food and other facilities. At that time it was called Food Dearness Allowance or Dearness Food Allowance. Dearness Allowance was first introduced in India in 1972 from Mumbai. After this, dearness allowance was given to all government employees by the central government. Similarly, the state governments also give dearness allowance to the state employees.
Jharkhand and Haryana government also increased dearness allowance
Recently, the Jharkhand government has announced to increase the dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. This decision of the government will be effective from July 1, 2021. At the same time, the Manohar Lal Khattar government of Haryana has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance of state employees and pensioners from 17 percent to 28 percent of the basic pay. This increased rate will be applicable from July 1, 2021. 2 lakh 85 thousand employees of Haryana and 2 lakh 62 thousand pensioners will be directly benefited by the increase in inflation rate.
There will be an increase in dearness allowance in Rajasthan from July 1
The Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan has also decided to increase the dearness allowance of state employees and pensioners from 17% to 28% of the basic pay. This rate of dearness allowance will be valid in the state from July 1, 2021. CM Gehlot said that despite the difficult circumstances of COVID, the state government will spend about Rs 4000 crore annually on this decision to support the employees.
