The 48th meeting of the JCM was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary regarding the increase in DA, which was stuck for the last one and a half years due to the Corona period. In this, many important issues including Night Allowance were discussed.
JCM meeting
Central employees and pensioners will have to wait a little longer for the increase in dearness allowance. Because in the 48th meeting of the National Council JCM chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Saturday, no decision has been taken regarding the increase in DA and DR, due to which there is disappointment among the employees. However, during this time a demand for Night Allowance has been made by the National Federation of Indian Railway Men (NFIR). A positive attitude has been seen on this, so it is expected that soon the matter can be discussed.
According to media reports, NFIR President Guman Singh has demanded from the government to give Night Duty Allowance (NDA) to the employees doing night duty of the railways in this meeting. So that such staff can get convenience in terms of safety and work. The Seventh Pay Commission has not raised any objection to Night Duty Allowance (NDA). In such a situation, it is being considered as a positive sign. Earlier, Jagannath Das Pay Commission had announced Night Duty Allowance (NDA) which was accepted by the Government of India. Along with this, a committee headed by the former Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court had also recommended Night Duty Allowance (NDA).
Benefits to all categories of employees
Guman Singh said that a demand has been made to the Cabinet Secretary to abolish the salary limit regarding Night Duty Allowance (NDA). It said that it should be implemented for every category of staff, so that all employees can get its benefit. It is known that railway employees with grade pay of 2400 are outside the purview of Night Duty Allowance (NDA), they should also be included in it.
Tax exemption in kilometer allowance
NFIR in the meeting of JCM held on 26 June demanded exemption in income tax on kilometer allowance given to running staff of Indian Railways. The Railway Ministry had also sent a proposal in this regard to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) earlier, but it is pending for the last five years. In such a situation, an appeal was made to the cabinet secretary in the meeting to resolve this issue.
