The Punjab Police on Friday morning arrested Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga from his home within the nationwide capital. Following this, a standoff ensued involving the police of three states — Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

The High Court turned down Punjab authorities’s request to maintain Bagga in Haryana whereas asking the Haryana authorities the explanation for his or her intervention, reported The Indian Express. The Haryana Police handed over Bagga to the Delhi Police, following which Bagga returned to Delhi within the night, hours after his arrest.
After Punjab Police picked up Bagga from his Delhi residence at round 8 am, excessive drama ensued because the Punjab Police group was intercepted by their Haryana counterparts in Kurukshetra’s Pipli, with a Haryana Police official claiming that they have been performing upon receiving the data that Bagga was “forcibly” picked up from his Delhi residence. The Punjab police officers and Bagga have been taken to the Thanesar police station.
Soon after, the Delhi Police group took Bagga’s custody and left for the nationwide capital. The Delhi Police had filed kidnapping case towards their Punjab counterparts based mostly on a criticism by Bagga’s father on the Janakpuri police station in Delhi. Pipli Sadar police station SHO Malkiat Singh mentioned, “The Delhi Police took him (Bagga) with them in view of an FIR registered in Delhi about his kidnapping.”

The Delhi Police claimed that the Punjab Police didn’t comply with due authorized procedures whereas arresting Bagga and stored the Delhi Police in darkish. The Punjab Police denied the cost whereas stating that their Delhi counterparts didn’t cooperate.
The Mohali SSP shot a letter to the Kurukshetra SSP demanding the discharge of the detained Punjab Police group and the accused Bagga. “In accordance with law, a police party was sent to arrest the accused. The said police party arrested the accused from his Delhi residence in the morning. It has come to my notice that the police party has been stopped by the Haryana Police on the Karnal-Kurukshetra highway,” the letter learn.
“This tantamount to illegal detention and interference in the administration of the criminal justice system,” the Mohali SSP additional acknowledged within the letter.
Last month, a case was registered on April 1 towards the BJP chief on expenses of constructing “provocative statements, promoting enmity and criminal intimidation” by the Punjab Police based mostly on a criticism of AAP chief Sunny Ahluwalia, a resident of Mohali. The alleged statements have been made by Bagga on March 30, when he was a part of a BJP youth wing protest in entrance of the Delhi chief minister’s residence.
