Boston cops arrested 9 suspects and took 10 weapons off the road in Dorchester and Mattapan on Monday following two BPD Youth Violence Strike Force investigations.
Three of the lads who had been arrested are being charged with assault and battery on a police officer after responding officers met a “large and unruly crowd” on the Mattapan scene, in accordance with BPD.
The first arrests on Monday occurred at round 4:30 p.m. within the space of 540 Adams St. in Dorchester. Members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Donta Lewis, 28, of Boston, and Lamont Jacobs-Barrows, 21, of Walpole, on firearm expenses.
As the officers approached the 2 suspects, they instantly sprinted away. Officers chased after them and positioned them in custody. Officers recovered a gun that had been discarded by Lewis and two firearms that had been discarded by Jacobs-Barrows. Both suspects will seem in Dorchester District Court on firearm and ammunition expenses.
Then at about 6:15 p.m., members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested seven suspects whereas recovering seven firearms within the space of 17 Elizabeth St. in Mattapan.
As the officers approached the goal of their investigation, the suspect took off and discarded a gun right into a parked motorcar, police stated. The officers had been capable of rapidly subdue the suspect, inserting him in custody and securing the firearm.
“As the officers attempted to secure the suspect for transport, a large and unruly crowd began to gather around the arresting officers,” BPD stated. “Citywide units were called to help secure the scene at which time, six other firearms were located in the immediate area leading to the arrest of three more adult male suspects on firearm related charges.”
Three different males had been positioned in custody on expenses of assault and battery on a police officer.
BPD had not verified the identities of those seven suspects as of Monday night time.
All suspects will seem in Dorchester District Court for arraignment.
