Jeff Bezos will fly to the edge of space with his brother and auction winner in Blue Origin’s reusable rocket New Shepard.
Jeff Bezos And Brother
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will make the first space flight with his brother on July 20 from his rocket company Blue Origin. Apart from Jeff Bezos and his brother, one seat is reserved for the winning bidder of the ongoing online auction. The auction will end on June 12 and will have the highest bid of $2,800,000. That is, on June 12, it will be revealed who is the lucky person to go to space with the Bezos Brothers.
In May, Blue Origin announced that it would auction one seat on its first flight on its New Shepard rocket, which is designed to carry up to 6 travelers per flight, to the highest bidder. This auction is being held in three parts, in which in the first phase from May 5 to May 19, people were allowed to bid any amount on the website. After May 19, the bids are sealed and on June 12, Blue Origin will hold a live auction to determine the winner.
Funds raised in the auction will be donated to Club for the Future, a foundation of Blue Origin that promotes STEM education initiatives.
Bezos looks very happy to go to space with brother
Bezos posted on Instagram with a video, writing, “Ever since I was five years old, I dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20, I will do that journey with my brother, best friend.” Bezos says in the video, “You look at the Earth from space and it transforms you. It changes your relationship with this planet, with humanity. This is the earth. I want to get on this flight because that’s the thing I want to do for the rest of my life. This is an adventure. It’s a big deal for me.”
The experience of going to space with Blue Origin’s rocket will be spectacular
Bezos will fly to the edge of space in Blue Origin’s reusable rocket New Shepard. As reported by The Verge, atop the booster is a gumdrop-shaped crew capsule with room for 6 passengers and large windows. Once the rocket reaches the Kerman Line, 100 kilometers above sea level, the capsule will separate from the booster, allowing people inside to see the Earth’s curve and experience weightlessness. The Traveler’s booster and capsule will land in the desert of West Texas with the help of parachutes.
Last month, Bezos announced that he would formally step down as the chief executive officer of Amazon on July 5. Bezos wrote a letter in February informing his employees of his decision to step down as CEO. He will now take over as the executive chairman of the company in the third quarter of this year.
