Corona virus is wreaking havoc across the country. In such a time, health infrastructure and facilities have become the primary requirement of India. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki has taken a major step in the fight against COVID-19 by partnering with Zydus Hospitals to officially start a multi-specialty hospital in Sitapur, Gujarat. The facility is fully financed by the Maruti Suzuki Foundation, which is under the CSR initiative of Maruti Suzuki.
According to a press statement issued by Maruti Suzuki, about 3.75 lakh people are expected to serve in Sitapur and adjoining villages, the 50-bed facility can be expanded to 100 beds. The country’s largest car manufacturer says that the hospital has been constructed in a land area of more than 7.5 acres and is the first in the region with super specialty services.
Maruti has a manufacturing facility in Gujarat and the production capacity of this plant in Hansalpur is 5 lakh units annually but lack of proper medical system in the area was a matter of concern. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, says, “When our Gujarat car plant started, there was no major medical facility available in this area. We decided to build a high quality multispecialty hospital for the benefit of all the residents of that region and partnered with one of the best names in healthcare – Zydus Hospitals. “
Hospital planning was going on before the epidemic.
Hospital planning was in progress even before the COVID-19 epidemic hit India, but Ayukawa says that the facility has now been converted into a covid-care center to treat infected people.
Apparently, many auto companies have come forward to assist, directly or indirectly, in the fight against the second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic in India. With the current medical infrastructure and most states implementing restrictions and lockdowns in the current situation, the need to provide timely medical support has become more important than ever.
