Indian lifestyle e-mobility startup Van Electric Moto Pvt Ltd has launched its first electric bicycle – UrbanSport in the country. Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT, Rajiv Chandrashekhar on Friday launched the Electric Moto brand virtually in the country through video conferencing.
This e-bike is available in two variants UrbanSport and UrbanSport Pro variants. The UrbanSport variant costs Rs 59,999 and the UrbanSport Pro is priced at Rs 69,999. Their sales will first start in Kochi and then it will be launched in Goa, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

- Van has launched two variants of the e-bikes. The UrbanSport variant costs Rs 59,999 and the UrbanSport Pro is priced at Rs 69,999.
- According to the company, the battery of these bikes can be fully charged in just half the unit power consumption and it will take about four hours to charge them fully.
- After full charge, it will be able to go up to 60 km at a maximum speed of 25 km per hour.
- The weight of the batteries in these is only 2.5 kg. Van claims that the battery in these is the first in its segment.
- Both the e-bikes feature a compact 6061 aluminum unisex frame, saddle, rims and handlebar designed by Benelli Bicyclet.

- Both these bikes have seven gears and get front and rear disc brakes and Spinner USA front shocks.
- These have 5 level electric gears.
- These bikes can generate maximum torque of 45Nm.
- The Van UrbanSport e-bikes feature a smart LCD display that displays all the necessary information and can be used to control the front and rear lights.
- In UrbanSport, the rear carrier can carry a weight of up to 15 kg. It gets a 20-inch wheel and an electric motor.
Target to sell 10,000 cycles annually
The company’s plant in Ernakulam has the capacity to assemble 2,000 cycles every month and currently the company plans to sell 8-10 thousand cycles every year. Jithu Sukumaran Nair, CEO and Founder, Van Electric Mobility, says that earlier the company’s target was youth, but now the focus is also on people in the age group of 40-55 years.
