Mahindra & Mahindra said on Monday that it is recalling around 600 vehicles manufactured at its Nashik plant in Maharashtra. This step has been taken to check the diesel engine of vehicles and replace the faulty engine. Mumbai-based auto major said it has recalled vehicles for testing and replacement of diesel engines in some of its vehicles manufactured at the Nashik factory.
Mahindra & Mahindra said that these vehicles were manufactured at its Nashik plant between June 21 and July 2, 2021. The Mumbai-based carmaker has issued a statement on Monday saying that it will investigate and replace the defective diesel engines of these cars. Mahindra will conduct proactive inspection and replacement of these engines, which are suspected of premature failure due to contaminated fuel.
In fact, the company suspects that on a particular date, defective fuel was received at the factory, which was poured into some vehicles. Due to this, some engine parts are suspected to be defective. Mahindra & Mahindra said in the information given to the stock exchange that this initiative is for less than 600 vehicles which were manufactured between June 21 and July 2, 2021. According to the statement, under this the engine will be checked and necessary improvements will be made.
Mahindra says that no money will be taken from customers for the repair of vehicles. The company is personally contacting the customers. Mahindra & Mahindra, however, did not specify which models were affected due to the issue.
Let us tell you that Mahindra & Mahindra is the fifth largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in the country. It currently manufactures vehicles like Thar SUV, Scorpio, Marazzo and XUV300 at its Nashik plant. Last week, Mahindra launched its latest offering for the Indian customers – the Bolero Neo – which is essentially an updated version of its TUV300 SUV. Now Mahindra is all set to launch the upgraded version of its flagship three-row SUV, the XUV500, in a new avatar, which has been named as the XUV700.
