Tata Nexon has performed well in the market
The subcompact UV space is undoubtedly the most closely contested segment in the Indian auto industry today. Almost every other OEM in India has a sub-4 meter SUV in its portfolio. The top 6 in the segment managed to register sales of 2,44,914 units during the first half of the calendar year 2021. Out of this, 47,251 units were sold in March which turned out to be the best selling month this year. Maruti Vitara Brezza topped the sales charts with sales of over 60,000 units during the first half of the current calendar year. The Indo-Japanese automaker sold the highest number of subcompact SUVs last month with 12,833 units.
Its nearest Korean rival after Brezza was Hyundai Venue, which registered sales of 54,675 units during the first six months of 2021. Venue registered its highest ever sales in January with 11,779 units dispatched to dealerships. The Korean auto giant registered an average monthly sales of 9,113, while the Brezza registered an average monthly sales of 10,031 units.
Nexon on third but leaves Kia behind
Tata Nexon moved up to the third position with sales of 46,247 units during the first half of this year. The domestic manufacturer recorded average monthly sales of 7,708 units, as against 8,683 units, the highest for Nexon in March. The Mahindra XUV300, on the other hand, made it to the list with 19,383 units sold during the first half of 2021. The SsangYong Tivoli based SUV saw the highest number of units sold (4,615 units) in June with an average monthly sales of 3,231 units. If we talk about the whole list, then Brezza is at number one. Venue is on second, Nexon on third, Sonet on fourth, XUV300 on fifth and EcoSport at number six.
Maruti’s vehicles are consistently performing strongly. Whether it is a hatchback or a crossover or a compact SUV, customers are fiercely buying the company’s vehicle. In such a situation, the company can strengthen its segment by launching more new vehicles in the coming time.
