Tata Motors has launched a new brand Xpres in India which will specifically target fleet vehicle buyers. Under the new brand, the company will sell vehicles for the taxi segment and will include both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EV). The first model to be introduced under the new vertical will be the re-branded Tigor EV which will now be called the ‘XPRES-T’ EV.
The company says that all the vehicles in the fleet segment will sport the new Xpres badge to differentiate it from the company’s passenger vehicles sold to private buyers. Announcing the launch of the Xpres brand, Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “We are delighted to launch the Xpres brand, which is a smart, futuristic and innovative way to meet the special needs of all fleets. Will offer ready mobility solution. Electric vehicles offer a very comfortable and enjoyable drive with minimal maintenance. This makes them an ideal choice for intra-city mobility services.”

With the new Xpres brand, Tata Motors will primarily target mobility service, corporate and government fleet customers. To support their requirement, Tata says that the upcoming Xpress-T EV will come with an Optimum battery pack with fast charging solution, thus ensuring low cost of ownership apart from safety and passenger comfort, making it one of the best-in-class models of the fleet. Will become a comprehensive and attractive proposition for the owners and operators. The electric subcompact sedan will be offered in two range options – 213 km and 165 km (ARAI certified range under test conditions). The first comes with a 21.5 kWh battery pack, while the latter gets a 16.5 kWh battery.
Tata claims that the new Xpres-T EV can be charged from 0- 80 percent in 90 minutes and 110 minutes respectively using fast charging or can be charged normally from any 15A plug point. The car comes with a single-speed automatic transmission, dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard across all variants. The Xpres-T EV comes with a premium black interior with standard automatic climate control. It also comes with Electric Blue accents on the interiors and exteriors to differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.
Talking about the new Xpres-T EV and the company’s electric vehicle fleet, Shailesh Chandra said, “Tata Motors is deeply committed to supporting the government’s emphasis on green mobility. At present, we have more than 1,700 electric sedans operating successfully in the fleet segment. The launch of our upcoming ‘XPRES-T’ EV sedan will set a new benchmark for urban shared mobility and will include a comprehensive captive charging solution provided by our partner Tata Power. This will enable greater utilization and increased income for our fleet customers.”
