However, till now, the company has not given information about the model of the car, which model car it is planning to launch. But, it is believed that only new CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor can be launched first.
The CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor are unlikely to see any major design changes for the time being except for the new CNG badging on the tailgate. The company has not yet announced the details of this variant. The CNG kit is expected to be offered on the entry-level and mid-level variants of the existing variants. It can give a mileage of about 30 kilometers per kilogram of CNG.
The existing Tata Tiago and Tigor are powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. But now their CNG models can also come with the same engine. No changes are expected to the engine as of now. This engine can be had with a five-speed manual transmission. In the market, these cars will compete with some CNG cars of Maruti and Hyundai.
By the way, readers should know that at present the CNG passenger vehicle segment is dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Both the companies offer large CNG ranges to the customers. But, now Tata is also going to expand itself in this segment. Tata’s CNG range is also going to be launched on January 19. Even after this, the company will continue to expand its CNG segment.
According to some close sources and other media reports, the unofficial booking of the new CNG car has also started. Yes, car dealers are charging a token amount ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 from customers for booking depending on the location and the variant.
