Cars Indian Railways
Indian car has carved a distinct identity among car manufacturers. That is, if a company has to send its vehicles from one location to another, then the company takes recourse to Indian Railways. Maruti Suzuki is at the forefront of this matter. Maruti Suzuki told Mangalwal that, within the last five years, the company has exported a total of 7.2 lakh cars and all this has been done with the help of railway network in the country.
In a country like India, transport is a challenging task and trucks have been contributing in the past for many years. But Indian Railways has emerged as a second option for some time. Maruti Suzuki said that, railway is not only a safe and best service, but it also reduces pollution.
Maruti Suzuki has dispatched a total of 1.8 lakh units in the year 2020-21 and all this has been possible with the help of the rail route. During this time the company registered 13 percent of total sales. This is the largest figure for the country’s largest car manufacturer. At the same time, a total of 1.78 units have been transported through the rail route in the year 2019.
Started in the year 2014
Maruti first started the rail route in the year 2014. Since then, the company has saved a total of 100,000 truck trips. Indian Railways is giving many benefits to car manufacturer companies with this service. Railways prepare special coaches for these companies, which are made by Research Design and Standard Organization. Railways has increased 265 units directly from 125 units for car companies. In such a situation, in the coming time it may be possible to send 318 cars together which will go at a speed of 95 km.
Maruti Suzuki is also the first auto manufacturer in the country to get an automobile freight train operator (AFTO) license. This allows private companies to build and operate high-speed, high-capacity autowagon rakes on the Indian Railways network. Currently, Maruti uses five loading terminals – Gurugram, Farukhnagar, Kathuwas, Patli and Detrose. It also has 15 destination terminals which include the cities of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Dusser.
Many other OEMs are also using rail services to carry vehicles from all four corners of the country. This includes Mahindra and Mahindra, Kia, among others.
