New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has started production of the 2022 updated Baleno series at its Gujarat plant. The first units of the new Baleno were spotted on 24 January 2022, almost a month before its launch in February. The leaked images and the roll-out images reveal that almost all the body panels of the 2022 Baleno have been redesigned and when viewed from the top, the car looks wider than its predecessor.
When viewed from the front, the new Baleno gets L-shaped wraparound headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and a projector set-up depending on the variant. The hood continues with the clamshell design as well. The newly designed grille has a “smiley look” and is now much bigger than before.
The new Baleno looks similar to the outgoing model, though the front and rear fenders have been redesigned to accommodate the redesigned head and tail lamps when viewed from the side. At the rear, the 2022 Baleno gets a new tailgate design, new L-shaped tail lamps that now extend to the tailgate and a new bumper.

The 2022 Baleno will get a completely redesigned dashboard that will be virtually identical to the new S-Cross, with the AC vents now placed horizontally in a V-shaped pattern and a free-standing infotainment screen taking center stage. The unit looks much larger than the 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio system and could easily be 8.0-inches or more in size. The infotainment system has been upgraded and there are other features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
While cooled seats are not expected to be part of the suite of features, Maruti will offer a Head Up Display Unit or HUD as a major differentiator on the new Baleno from Suzuki. The system isn’t likely to be custom-able like in luxury cars, but there will still be a fair amount of useful setup that will be possible for display.
The airbag count in the new Baleno will go up to six on the top model – driver and passenger airbags with curtain bags for front and rear passengers. Higher models may also come with an electronic stability program (ESP). Baleno being one of the most popular cars sold in India, the model has seen competition from new products from Tata and Hyundai that come with more comfort and better technology.
