Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has made its hat-trick as the bestselling model of the country in January 2022. Wagon R registered 20,334-unit sales in January 2022 as compared to 17,165 units in January 2021, registering a growth of 18 per cent in sales. The CNG variant in the Wagon R, in particular, has been a big hit in the time of rising fuel prices in the country.

Maruti Suzuki Swift
Like the Wagon R, the Swift too has achieved a hat-trick. Maruti Suzuki Swift, a popular choice in the hatchback segment, retained the second bestselling position for the third time in a row in January 2022. Maruti Suzuki sold 19,108 units of Swift last month with a growth of 11 per cent as compared to sales of 17,180 units in January 2021.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Dzire compact sedan has started the new year after a long time by coming at number three in the top list. Maruti Suzuki Dzire continues to be the market leader in its segment. In January 2022, Maruti Suzuki sold 14,967 units in the country as against 15,135 units in the same time frame last year, which is a one percent drop in sales for the year.
Tata Nexon
The sales figure of Tata Nexon was quite good in 2021, which was also reflected in the sales of January in the first month of this year. Last month, the Nexon compact SUV registered a growth of 68 per cent, with 13,816-unit sales in January this year as against 8,225 units sold in January 2021. In the last few months, the demand for electronic iteration of this compact SUV has also seen a significant increase. Apart from this, to attract more people, the automaker has made the dark edition of this compact SUV with both ICE and electronic options.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
The Alto is the car that has won the coveted title of being the longest-serving bestseller in the country. However, changing customer preferences coupled with rising demand for B-segment cars and compact SUVs has affected its sales. In January 2022, Maruti Suzuki Alto saw a 32 per cent decline in sales with 12,342 units sold as against 18,260 units sold in January 2021. Based on cumulative sales figures, Alto ranks fifth in the list.
