Bajaj Chetak Electric
Indian two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto expects to start deliveries of its electric scooter Chetak from the third quarter of this year. Bajaj is aiming to offer new two wheelers to its customers before the start of the festive season. Bajaj Auto stopped taking bookings within 48 hours of Chetak’s opening on April 13 due to high demand.
In its annual report for 2020-21, Bajaj Auto said that it “expects to start deliveries of this popular model during the second quarter of FY 2022”. When bookings for Chetak were first started in early 2020, it had to be put on hold due to Covid-19 related supply chain disruptions.

Former President of Bajaj Auto, Rahul Bajaj said that the company reopened online bookings on April 13, 2021, but had to be stopped after 48 hours due to overwhelming response. The new Bajaj Chetak is being manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan facility in Pune. Bajaj Auto managed to achieve sales of 508 units of its Chetak electric scooter in April this year. It is currently sold only in Pune and Bangalore. However, Bajaj plans to introduce the Chetak soon in Chennai and Hyderabad.
The high-speed electric scooter will be available in two variants – Chetak Premium and Chetak Urban. The two-wheeler manufacturer decided to reintroduce the popular Chetak brand in an electric avatar after several years. The Chetak electric scooter gets a steel body and flush-fitted panels.

It gets IP67 water-resistance and a beltless solid gear drive. The scooter will be offered with three riding modes (including reverse mode). Coming to the exteriors, it also gets a full LED setup that includes LED headlamps with integrated horseshoe-shaped DRLs.
The Chetak is offered with connected technology and a dedicated app that notifies the owner in case of any incident of unauthorized access or accident. On the other hand, it gets two trims which include (Urban and Premium), while you also get 6 color options in it.
Earlier this year, Bajaj Auto increased the price of the Chetak scooter by around Rs 27,000 and is currently offered at Rs 1,42,620 (ex-showroom, Pune). Another hike was seen in March this year when it became costlier by Rs 5,000.
