Tata Motors on Thursday had its first glimpse of the new Tata Safari. The company held a flag of ceremonies at its Pune plant to introduce the first unit of Safari. Tata Safari will be launched in January itself and bookings will start soon. Tata Motors has also launched an augmented reality experience for Safari. Customers can learn about Safari virtually with the help of many interactive features.
The Safari will be based on Tata Motors’ Impact 2.0 design language. In Tata Safari, the company will use the “OMEGARC” platform. Inside the SUV will be the Oyster White themed interior and ash wood dashboard. The SUV will have a floating touchscreen infotainment system, which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Tata Safari will feature stepped roof. At the Auto Expo 2020, Tata Safari was showcased with the Gravitas code name.
Potential engine
The Tata Safari is expected to get a 2.0-liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine that produces 170 BHP power and 350 Nm of torque. Along with this, there can be 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox. There is a possibility that the Safari will also have a new turbo petrol engine with DCT gearbox. Tata Safari will compete with the new generation Mahindra XUV500, 7 seater Hyundai Creta, MG Hector Plus, Toyota Innova Crysta. Apart from this, it will also compete with the 7 seater SUV based on the Jeep Compass.
