Electric vehicle: A total of 4,29,217 electric vehicles have been sold in the financial year 2021-22, compared to 1,34,821 in its previous financial year 2020-21.
Electric vehicle: People are very fond of electric vehicles in the country and its sales are increasing continuously. In the last financial year 2021-22, the retail sales of Electric Vehicles (EV) in the country has increased by more than three times. More than 4 lakh EVs have been sold in FY22. During this, maximum two-wheeler electric vehicles were purchased. This information has been received from the data collected by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), the automobile dealers body. A total of 4,29,217 electric vehicles have been sold in the financial year 2021-22, compared to 1,34,821 in its previous financial year 2020-21. According to FADA, a total of 1,68,300 electric vehicles were sold in the country in 2019-20.

Tata Motors Leads in Electric Passenger Vehicle Segment
In the last financial year, the figure of retail sales of electric passenger vehicles increased three-fold to 17,802 from 4,984 in 2020-21. In this segment, domestic automobile company Tata Motors was at the forefront with sales of 15,198 vehicles. The company’s market share stood at 85.37 percent. The company’s retail sales stood at 3,523 units in 2020-21. Apart from this, MG Motor India stood second with 2,045 vehicle sales. Its market share stood at 11.49 percent. MG Motor sold 1,115 vehicles in 2020-21. Mahindra & Mahindra stood third with 156 electric vehicles sales and Hyundai Motor India fourth with 128 units sold. Both had a market share of less than one per cent.

Hero Electric wins in two wheeler segment
Electric two-wheeler sales increased five-fold to 2,31,338 units in the last fiscal from 41,046 units in the previous fiscal. Hero Electric topped the two-wheeler segment with 65,303 bikes sold. Its market share was 28.23 percent. It was followed by Okinawa Autotech in second place. Its sales were 46,447 bikes. Ampere Vehicles stood at number three with 24,648 bikes sold. Hero MotoCorp-backed Ather Energy sold 19,971 electric two-wheelers in the last financial year and stood fourth. Bangalore-based Ola Electric stood at the sixth position with 14,371 vehicles sold and TVS Motor Company at the seventh position with 9,458 vehicles sold.
FADA has collected data from 1,397 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) out of 1,605. FADA said that the sales of electric three-wheelers increased to 1,77,874 units in the last financial year from 88,391 units in the previous financial year. Similarly, the sales of electric commercial vehicles increased from 400 units to 2,203 units.
