In the midst of the Corona crisis, three Indian-American CEOs have also been included in the Global Task Force set up in the US for India. It also includes Sundar Pichai of Google, Puneet Ranjan of Deloitte and Shantanu Narayan of Adobe. They were included in the steering committee of this task force on Thursday. This task force is formed with the collective initiative of the US-India Business Council of the US Chamber of Commerce and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and the Business Roundtable.
This initiative has been named as ‘Global Task Force on Pandemic Response: Mobilizing for India’. All three Indian-American CEOs have been active in the initiative of American companies to deal with the COVID crisis in India. Others added to the list on Thursday include Mark Suzman, CEO of the Bill & Milinda Gates Foundation, Joshua Bolten, President and CEO of the Business Roundtable, and Suzanne Clarke, President and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce.
Task force will send 1000 ventilators and 25,000 oxygen concentrators
The Global Task Force, comprising the CEO of America’s Top 40 companies, announced to send 1,000 ventilators and 25,000 oxygen concentrators to help India. Of these, 1000 oxygen concentrators provided by Deloitte came to India on 25 April. The task force has said that the first batch of ventilators will reach India this week. At the same time, 1000 ventilators are expected to reach India by 3 June.
So far, 16 companies have been involved in the task force’s ventilator initiative. These companies will help with 30 million dollars for India’s health system. Among these companies, companies such as Facebook, Amazon to Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Amway, Qualcomm, VMWare, Union Pacific, McCormick and Cordial Health have taken ventilators and other medical supplies to India. Along with this, Accenture and Microsoft have also come forward to help.
India has 46% cases of COVID-19 in the world – WHO
Deloitte India CEO Puneet Ranjan told PTI that it is time to help India. The world should come forward to help India in facing the challenge of the COVID-19 crisis at this time. He said, “This is a global crisis. If the virus is in one side environment and changes its form, it will have an impact on everyone. As long as everyone is not safe then no one is safe. So we should take action, this is the right thing to do. For our people in the business community too, it is a work to be done in the right direction. ”
The task force said that more than 4 lakh cases are coming to India every day. Actually the case rate can be much higher than this. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that 46 percent of the corona virus cases in India are in the world and 25 percent of those who lost their lives worldwide due to the epidemic last week. Many countries are coming forward to help India and are supplying medical goods. The United Nations also said that several of its agencies have sent about 10,000 oxygen concentrators and about 10 million medical masks to India to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic.
