New Delhi, Skoda Auto India on Friday said it sold 5,608 units in March this year, which is five times more than 1,159 units sold in the same month last year. The company said that this is its highest sales figure in a month. Earlier, the company’s highest monthly sales figure stood at 4,923 units in June 2012. Similarly, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Friday said its best monthly sales in the last five years came this March when it sold a total of 17,131 units.
Commenting on its stellar sales, Jacques Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said in a statement, “Despite the challenges affecting the market sentiment, the company is confident that the year 2022 will prove to be the most profitable year for it in India.” He said, “We are all set to take the brand to new heights. India has become an important market for Skoda Auto. In terms of sales, the January-March quarter this year was very good for the company when it sold 13,120 vehicles. Whereas in the same quarter of 2021, the company’s 3,016 vehicles were sold.

TKM said it registered a cumulative growth of 58 per cent with wholesale sales of 1,23,770 units in FY 2021-22. In the financial year 2020-21, 78,262 units were sold. Atul Sood, Assistant Vice President (Sales & Strategic Marketing) at the company, said in a statement that this shows the high popularity of all Toyota models in their range. He said that the supply of new Glanza has been started and it is also getting very good response.
