BMW iX: German luxury car maker BMW’s first electric car in the country has received a great response from buyers and all its cars were sold on the very first day. Giving this information today (December 14), the company said that the first consignment of its BMW iX Electric SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) was sold on the very first day i.e. on the day of its launch. This SAV was launched by the company on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the company, the first phase of booking received an overwhelming response from customers online and through BMW India dealerships spread across the country. The deliveries of these cars will start from April 2022 next year. The car was launched in India as a Completely-Built-Up Unit (CBU) and is priced at Rs 1.15 crore (ex-showroom).

Booking for the next phase will start in the March 2022 quarter
Other customers may have to wait for some more time to buy this electric car from BMW. The company has informed that the booking of the second phase will now start in the first quarter of next year i.e. in January-March 2022. According to BMW Group India President Vikram Pawag, he was confident about the success of the BMW iX in the first phase, but the customer response on the first day far exceeded all estimates. After this, now the company is now starting preparations for the booking of the next phases.

Features of BMW iX
- The BMW iX has been offered globally in two variants – iX xDrive 40 and iX xDrive 50. However, only its iX xDrive 40 variant has been launched in India. The xDrive 40 variants, generates 326 hp power and 630 Nm peak torque.
- The xDrive 40 variant takes 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 kmph.
- The BMW iX gets two electric motors (one on each axle), while an all-wheel-drive system is offered as standard, they can also be used in the pure rear-wheel-drive set-up.
- Coming to the driving range, the xDrive 40 has a claimed driving range of up to 425 km.
- Using a 150 kW DC fast charger, the India-spec iX xDrive 40 can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 31 minutes. Also, via a 50 kW DC fast charger, the iX xDrive 40 can be charged up to 80 percent in 73 minutes. At the same time, it will take about 7 hours for the electric SUV to be fully charged through the 11 kW AC wall box charger.
- In terms of features, the BMW iX gets a new hexagonal steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a large 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a HUD or heads-up display, among others.
- It recently got a full 5-star safety rating at the Euro NCAP.
