Mercedes-Benz has started its electric vehicles in India. The company launched the electric SUV model EQC on Thursday. It has been launched at an introductory price of 99.30 lakh rupees. This introductory price is for the first 50 units of the electric SUV. This all-electric SUV is the first product under the Mercedes-Benz EQ brand.
An 80 kWh lithium ion battery is provided in the EQC. When fully charged, the car can cover a distance of 445-471 km. Mercedes-Benz claims that the power consumption of the EQC is 20.8–19.7 kWh / 100 km. The SUV has two electric motors. The combined output of both is 408hp. The car can hold a speed of 0-100 km / hr in just 5.1 seconds and the top speed is 180kmph.

The EQC has a fully digital instrument cluster, which shows real-time data consumption, driving modes, etc. The EQC has a 10.25 inch touch screen infotainment system, using the MBUX operating system. This system offers smart connected technology with inbuilt virtual assistant. The EQC has a vehicle battery management feature. Through this, the user can remotely check the battery status of the car, know the status of charging, know the available range, and get the Indication when the charging is complete. The user can remotely define the maximum status of the charge and set it as per his convenience.
Biometric ID access is also given to unlock the car in EQC. It also has an anti theft alarm system and ‘Mercedes me’ connect feature, which keeps the car connected to the app and gets notifications on the app in case of any unwanted activity with the locked car.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC batteries take 21 hours to fully charge using the standard 15A domestic power supply. But with the help of 7.5kW wall box charger, the car is fully charged in less than 10 hours. With the help of 110kW DC fast charger, it is fully charged in only 90 minutes.

EQC customers will be able to take advantage of Mercedes-Benz India’s charging network or service needs at more than 100 locations in 48 cities in the country. The car will be provided with AC wall box charger, home electrical charger, 5 years of unlimited on-road assistance, 5 years of the comprehensive service package, 5 years of unlimited km extended warranty, 8 years / 1.60 lakh km battery cover.
The sale of EQC will begin from Mercedes-Benz India’s e-commerce website and from 6 cities Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. Later, other cities will also be added to it. Mercedes-Benz plans to offer globally 10 electric vehicles by 2022, and the company expects 15-25 per cent sales from pure electric vehicles.
