- Through online sales platform: Fraudsters posing as buyers on an online sales platform, most of them pretending to be from Defense and posting in remote areas. After the purchase, instead of making the payment, they use the ‘Request Money’ feature on UPI and then they ask the seller to approve the request by entering the UPI PIN. As soon as the seller’s PIN is entered, the money is transferred to the fraudster’s account.

- Fraud through search engines: For customer care details of your bank, insurance company, aadhaar updation center, etc., we resort to a search engine like Google. In such a situation, if you call these numbers, then they will talk to fraudsters and they can share your confidential information through which they can empty your account.
- QR Code Scan: Sometimes fraudsters contact people through SMS or other texts and then trick them into scanning QR (quick response) codes through an app on their phones. After scanning such QR codes, fraudsters are authorized to withdraw money from your account.
- Juice Jacking: The charging port of a mobile can also break into your account. Fraudsters inject viruses into the charging ports of public places, after which they can take control of the mobile used for charging and they can steal sensitive information like e-mails, SMS, saved passwords.
